taking a break
Sometimes it's nice to take a break and step back from everything. I feel like my brain needed a break. Prior to moving I felt like I dabbled in everything. I made whatever struck my fancy that day. I became the jack of all trades, master of none.
What haven't I made yet? I'll tell you what I have made! I've made soap, salt bars, solid shampoo and conditioner, salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, solid scrubs, liquid shampoo, liquid conditioner, solid lotion bars, solid perfumes, liquid perfumes, lip balms, bath oils, bath fizzies, bath melts, CP and HP shampoo bars, lotions, creams, shaving creams, shaving soap.....oh my gosh! I had ingredients everywhere!!!!
It feels good knowing I can make all of that, but in the end, realized I needed to scale back on the ingredients I purchased and the products I made. It's hard not to want to try everything. If I'm on a forum and see that somebody made something cool it makes me want to make it too! But now I will just appreciate what others make and concentrate on what I want to make. It also gives me a reason to start buying more products from all of the wonderful bath and body experts out there!
I will always love to make all forms of soap. That will never go away. By taking a step back, since moving here, I've been able to appreciate different soaps and their qualities....to really find out what I like in my soap. Creaminess! I crave creaminess and silkiness. Turns out I already knew that, but it was nice to move half way across the country and come to the same conclusion. Cocoa butter is now my new best friend. I will be using it in almost everything now. I go back and forth on my favorite butters....a few months ago it was mango, but right now it's cocoa butter.
I will always fight the urge to make anything and everything, but for now I will slow it down. I am going to focus on a few products and make them as yummy as I can.
I think my brain is done for now. The sun is shining and calling me outside. I am addicted to the sun. It gives me energy and makes me happy.
I hope everyone has a sunny day!
Happy Soaping!

The sun is so gooood. Lots of vitamin D :) And I agree i love both Cocoa butter and Lard in my soaps.
ReplyDeleteOh and I can't forget the lard either! That's my next purchase. very creamy.
DeleteI understand how you've been feeling lately. I am interested in so many things that I find I don't have time for anything! So I've taken small steps to streamline my interests and products and I'm already happier. Ditto on the cocoa butter!
ReplyDeleteI think streamlining does help and I'm glad that you're happier! I think the problem is that our brains love to learn new things!
DeleteYou forgot Solid Lotion Bars - I'm sure you did them too :P
ReplyDeleteTotally feel you and CB is awesome!
LOL! Yep, made those too! Never had the desire to actually use them.
DeleteI bet you have ingredients you don't even know what you bought for! Your soap is truly lovely so if all you focus on is that, then that is more than enough. Oh, and your bath fizzies... and your lip balm... and... ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tanya! I will be focusing on soap, bath fizzies, lip balm and lotions. LOL! No more random ingredients for me.
DeleteAnother cocoa butter lover here! I too would like to cut down on my ingredients, but having a hard time deciding WHAT since I've been liking almost everything I use, lol.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking of more ingredients to buy! LOL! I have a list going and if I keep wanting them I guess I will order them.
DeleteCocoa Butter is amazing, I LOVE using it!
