a new beginning

It has been a crazy past two months.  Hubby, Milla (our doggy) and I drove 1,920 miles (in separate cars) from Minnesota to Oregon to start a new life!  The west was calling us so we had to go.  It has been exhausting, but most importantly, it has been rewarding.  I love where we live now and feel so much happier.

I was worried about Milla since she's 14 1/2 years old.  She doesn't like big changes, but she handled it like a champ.  I made her a comfy bed in my car and she either slept or watched as we drove up and down through the mountains.  She is loving her back yard and the drier climate.  Her biggest joy is napping in the grass.  She is still a bit confused about the house, but after we finish unpacking she might feel more at home.

I soon realized that some of my soaps weren't cutting it here in this semi-arid climate.  They were a bit too drying for me.  In Minnesota I had winter and summer soaps.  I have to use my winter soaps during summer here!  Luckily, I found a few soaps that worked for me and guess what, they both had lard in them.  It really gave me something to think about.  I will definitely start including lard in some of my soaps for myself.

I think I promised a series called "What was I thinking?"  Now I'm wondering what was I thinking promising a series when I can hardly sit at a computer for very long?  I'm not much of a writer, but I do know that something will come to me.  When the sun is shining, the last thing I want to be is in the house on the computer!

Happy Soaping!

my current soap I'm using (with lard among other oils)

    1. Thank you! We are finally settling in and realized the pain of moving was worth it. I still need to buy lard, but that's next on my soaping list.
